IF THE WORLD HATES YOU ... Chris discusses the admonition of the Lord Jesus who said: "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you." (John 15:18) This Scripture seems to be appropriate in light of the recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court which has now refused to hear the case of the photographers from New Mexico who declined to photograph a homosexual commitment ceremony because of their Christian convictions. The high court in New Mexico refused to acknowledge that the photographers have a first amendment right to freedom of religion, and they have been ordered to pay more than $6,000 in legal fees to the gay woman who filed the discrimination case against them. Some have argued that this is a clear step towards tyranny. But as believers, we are reminded of the scripture that tells us it is no marvel that the world hates us (1John 3:13) because we belong to Christ.
