Environmentalism is One of the Four Es Building The Coming Religious Reich

By Brannon S. Howse

In Religious Trojan Horse, I devote an entire chapter—“The Watermelon Church: Environmental Green and Socialist Red”— to this issue because major evangelical denominations are pushing the myth of global warming and other radical environmentalist agendas under the masking term “creation care.” Available at  worldviewweekend.com/bookstore, the book released in 2012 and remains 100 percent relevant because of the in-depth background information it provides. Not surprisingly, though, because of the accelerating pace of world events, a number of significant developments have occurred since its publication, and that is what I focus on in this section.

In his June 2015 encyclical, Pope Francis uses the word “sustainable” 18 times. The term is crucial to globalists, but it is also difficult to define because they want it that way. In general, “sustainability” involves the promotion of socialism, global governance, planned economies, and the end of individual liberties.

A pivotal point in modern globalism, the 1992 Earth Summit produced two documents: “Agenda 21” and the “Biodiversity Treaty.” Tom DeWeese of the American Policy Center has been one of America’s leading opponents of the freedom-robbing agenda in these two plans, and he summarizes the threat this way:

[quote] Here the ideas were officially presented to world leaders that all government on every level needed to be transformed into top-down control over housing, food production, energy, water, private property, education, population control, gun control, transportation, social welfare, medical care, and literally every aspect of our lives. To get the full picture, add to these the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child and the convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, both of which create UN mandates on abortion, child rearing, and government interference on families. [end quote]

The end game of sustainable development is global governance. If you doubt my claim, then consider the words of the Commission on Global Governance, an organization allied with the United Nations:

[quote] The environment, perhaps more than any other issue, has helped to crystallize the notion that humanity has a common future. The concept of sustainable development is now widely used and accepted as a framework within which all countries, rich and poor, should operate. The aspect that particularly concerns us is the global governance implications. [end quote] [emphasis mine]

Some of the groups pushing the sustainable development agenda include Planned Parenthood, the Sierra Club, the National Education Association, and a host of government bureaucrats serving both Republican and Democrat administrations. The editors of Empowerment for Sustainable Development: Toward Operational Strategies acknowledge the vital role education plays in indoctrinating students with their radical worldview:

[quote] Education has been advanced as significant in bringing about changes in attitudes, behavior, beliefs, and values….In order to redirect behavior and values towards institutional change for sustainable development there is a need to investigate strategic options in relation to educational philosophies, scope for propagation and adoption, and groups most likely susceptible to change. [end quote]

Sustainable development masks all manner of tyranny, oppression, murder, socialism, and global governance.

Since the goal of the Vatican is to bring the world under its dominion, and since it is a religion birthed from the pagan, mother-son cult of Babylon, it is not shocking that the Vatican has become one of the leading voices promoting sustainable development. In his encyclical, Pope Francis positively referenced “Mother Earth” twice and went so far as to declare:

[quote] Everything is related, and we human beings are united as brothers and sisters on a wonderful pilgrimage, woven together by the love God has for each of his creatures and which also unites us in fond affection with brother sun, sister moon, brother river and mother earth. [end quote]

Brother sun, sister moon, brother river, and mother earth? Yet while speaking so positively about such blatantly pagan ideas in paragraph 55 of the encyclical the Pope takes issue with . . . air-conditioning:

[quote] Some countries are gradually making significant progress, developing more effective controls and working to combat corruption. People may well have a growing ecological sensitivity but it has not succeeded in changing their harmful habits of consumption which, rather than decreasing, appear to be growing all the more. A simple example is the increasing use and power of air-conditioning. [end quote]

This same pope offered time off purgatory to anyone who followed him on Twitter. (I’m not joking!) The Guardian reported on July 16, 2013:

[quote] In its latest attempt to keep up with the times the Vatican has married one of its oldest traditions to the world of social media by offering “indulgences” to followers of Pope Francis’ tweets. The church’s granted indulgences reduce the time Catholics believe they will have to spend in purgatory after they have confessed and been absolved of their sins. [end quote]

I suppose that might be considered a small price to pay since historically the Vatican has wanted money in exchange for indulgences, but it’s still hard to believe people don’t see this for the hucksterism that it is. Perhaps instead of worrying about something he cannot control—such as climate change that is largely derived from the increase and decrease in solar flares, as I detail in Religious Trojan Horse—he might want to worry about what he can control, such as the rampant immorality in his own ranks and the church’s perverted theology. Here are a few of the things he should be concerned about:

In February 2014, an article on Yahoo, about PBS’ Frontline documentary, “Secrets of the Vatican,” said:

[quote] [R]eports emerged from Rome of a “gay mafia” inside the church that included some of its top officials, who were unafraid to wield political power and at the same time live an openly promiscuous gay lifestyle. [end quote]

Not that this is shocking considering all the priest pedophile crimes that have come to light over the years.

If the pope were serious about truth he would see to it that the Vatican sells the building that houses cardinals and Europe’s biggest gay bathhouse. Yes, in 2013 the New York Daily News reported:

[quote] Church leaders gathering for Tuesday’s papal conclave picked up the paper to learn that the Holy See is the majority owner of an apartment that houses Italy’s largest gay bathhouse. Even more shocking, Ivan Cardinal Dias lives in a swank 12-room apartment one floor above Europa Multiclub, and mere yards from the phallic shrubbery at the entrance of the gay Xanadu, La Repubblica reported. [end quote]

Pope Francis assures atheists: “You Don’t Have to Believe in God to Go to Heaven.” That was a headline at the United Kingdom’s Independent news site on September 11, 2003. The article went on to explain that Pope Francis had declared:

[quote] You ask me if the God of the Christians forgives those who don’t believe and who don’t seek the faith. I start by saying—and this is the fundamental thing—that God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience….Sin, even for those who have no faith, exists when people disobey their conscience. [end quote]

Hell is filled with people who are sincere but sincerely wrong. They were sincere about their hatred of the things of God and rebellion against Him. They were sincere about their atheism, Cosmic Humanism, Communism, Islam, postmodernism, man-centered or self-created Christianity, or whatever false religion they followed. Yes, God is a God of mercy, but His mercy and grace are extended only to those who repent and place their faith and trust in Christ alone and His atoning work on the cross through His death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 2:5 reveals this truth: “But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent [refusal to repent] heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.” What will happen to those that do not repent but instead are self-seeking, meaning that their religion is about self? Romans 2:8 explains: “but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath.” Grace and mercy is for those who repent, not those who are merely sincere.

In Luke 13:3, Jesus confronted the false notion of “universal” mercy and grace when He declared, “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Peter picks up the theme in Acts 3:19: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” And in his second letter, in 2 Peter 3:9, we read, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” The work of the Great Commission in Luke 24:47 hinges on the right understanding of this issue: “repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” And this is not a new message from God. In the Old Testament, Proverbs 28:13 reveals that grace and mercy are extended to those who repent: “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

The process of repentance can be painful, perhaps even embarrassing, and that is why it is so unpopular. Yet 2 Corinthians 7:9-11 offers the benefit that comes from the necessary turning from sin:

"Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter."

While many people are sincere about their worldly sorrow, worldly sorrow does not acknowledge sin against the holy character and nature of God. Rather, it is about self and a regret that a person’s sin has hurt others and caused undesirable consequences. Godly sorrow, on the other hand, brings an understanding that “I deserve hell and cannot save myself; I have offended a Holy, Just God and only through His righteous life imputed to my account can I pass from judgment into life.”

Pope Francis, like all previous popes, teaches a works salvation, but Ephesians 2:8-9 declares: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” The true Gospel is summed up in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Instead of worrying about global warming—which is really a global governance scam—the pope might want to worry about the fires of hell awaiting the souls he is deceiving with his false gospel. If the pope is so worried about justice, then he might also consider the horror and injustice of the coming religious Reich he is helping to build.
