In November 2020, a secret document was released that in December 1979, Jimmy Carter ordered the CIA to carry out propaganda, political and economic operations.

He continued: "After Carter's order 43 years ago to overthrow the Islamic Republic, the Americans have used every means, especially advertising and propaganda, to achieve this goal, but as it became clear in these disturbances, they have failed, and the great nation of Iran and the country's officials, by Allah's grace, By striving for great and transformative works, they continue to eliminate weaknesses and accelerate more towards the realization of goals and desires."

But what is the story of the document mentioned by the leader of the revolution?

Ray Takeyh, an Iranian-American former United States Department of State official, and a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, believes that Carter, who is now emerging from the mass of declassified documents, was a radical in the case of Iran, who asked the weakened Shah to suppress the revolution with force, tried to preserve the kingdom of Iran by organizing a coup, and even after the revolution, the US policy is determined to change the Iranian regime.

Takeyh continues: Carter spent a lot of effort to prevent the Iranian revolution and after the revolution was completed, he tried to overthrow it.

Takeyh admits in his analysis that it was necessary for the United States to accelerate the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and to bring a pro-American faction to the leadership position.

Takeyh wrote in Foreign Affairs: Carter was not a quiet man. In fact, we can say that he was opinionated, hot-tempered and often cruel. Carter's problem with Iran was Iran's unpredictable allies and fierce adversaries within Iran. Carter failed to understand that the waves of a people's revolution that would destroy everything in its path could not be changed by coups and CIA operations. The Islamic Republic was a baby at that time, but the revolution had the broad support of the Iranian people.
